Sharks Aquatics is a locally, family owned & operated Swim School based in two locations at Runaway Bay & Labrador. We specialize in Learn to Swim & Squad Programs that transition from Learn to Swim to those aiming for age nationals.

We are passionate about swimming and the many benefits it delivers to a child's development. Swimming is part of Queensland lifestyle and it is critical for every child to be confident in the water.

Our professional staff have been hand picked & follow our mission to be approachable, passionate & caring instructors & coaches.

Ken Malcolm.jpg

Ken comes to Sharks with over 25 years of Coaching experience across both NSW & QLD, most noticeably as the long-term Head Coach of St Hildas Aquatics & previous to that Trinity Aquatics, a powerhouse Club in Northern NSW.

During his time as a Head Coach, Ken has achieved many wonderful accolades including;

2021 SGC Coach of the Year

2021 SGC Club of the Year

as well as numerous Swimming Queensland High Performance Coach awards and scholarships. He has coached swimmers to great success including a Silver Medal at the Tokyo Olympics, several Australian Records, world MC 400m Free record and Gold, Silver & Bronze medalists at the Australian Open and National Age Championships.

Ken's philosophy is to "Educate athletes on swimming the best they can as an individual, fast & with correct technique with a strong sports education. Swimming is a skill for life that will open many doors and should be inclusive for everyone. If a swimmer can mature through adolescence, it will benefit them for life and for generations to come as their kids follow the swimming path, being healthy and making friends for life. If we can achieve this as a coach, then we have done our job."

Kristy has had a passion for swimming since before she can remember. Growing up in Coffs Harbour, the water was everything and swimming was her way of life. A state level swimmer and keen butterflyer Kristy now passes on her love of the water to countless kids over many years.

Kristy specialises in helping kids transition from learn to swim programs to squad by growing their confidence through positive reinforcement and expert stroke correction. Kristy has helped grow many students into current regional and state swimmers and gets satisfaction in seeing them achieve great things in the pool.

Pete is a self proclaimed sports tragic. In his early years he played soccer, rugby, cricket, golf & tennis just to name a few and was a state level cross country athlete as well as tennis player.

His passion for sports has continued into his adult years where he is heavily involved in his own children's sports of choice. He has coached soccer & cricket and is currently a level 1 accredited junior AFL coach.

Pete understands the community aspect of a great sporting group and the long term benefit being involved in sport can have on your child's development.

Pete is currently the Juniors Vice President at the Southport Sharks AFL Club and brings this experience to the business.

Taite Ledek has grown with the business and is taking the next step in his Coaching journey as a Trainee to Head Coach, Ken. Passionate and mature beyond his years Taite brings personal high level swimming experience which gives him the strength of being relatable to our younger Squad members starting their high level competitive swimming journey.

We are thrilled to have Taite on board and look forward to watching him grow into a coach of the future.
